Making Development Work for the Poorest:

A major international donor seminar organised by DFID on Making Development Work for the Poorest was held in London on 12 May 2004. 

The meeting was addressed by UK Secretary of State for International Development Hilary Benn MP, Norwegian Minister for International Cooperation Hilde Frafjord Johnson and Professor MS Swaminathan, UNESCO Chair of Ecotechnology. 

Other key speakers included  CPRC partners Andrew Shepherd, Aasha Kapur Mehta, David Hulme and Binayak Sen, John Kruger from the National Treasury in the Government of South Africa, Ravi Kanbur, T.H. Lee Professor of World Affairs and Economics at Cornell University and Salil Shetty, Director of the Millennium Campaign.

Coinciding with the donor seminar and the launch of the CPRC's Chronic Poverty Report, DFID produced a film entitled Reaching the Invisible Poor.
